Hi everyone!
I miss everyone so much, but Germany is Awesome!! I’ve already made some friends in the program. All from Utah L But they are not with the church, so we’re getting along.
My first day here I ended up arriving a day early, but I got lucky. I got lucky because I made it to the international center right before closing, and they had just had the room keys to the dorms delivered, so I did not have to stay in a hostel! After making it to my room, I made the mistake of sleeping, so when midnight in Kiel rolled around I was wide-awake. I decided to explore a little (sorry mom), because I was so hungry. I never found any food, but I did find Kiel to be a very safe place. I have found out since, that the worst crime to look out for here is pick pocketing. It’s definitely safer than Philly!
My second day here I woke up later than I’d planned. I started by walking to the international center at the university, and grabbing lunch on the way. At the university, I met some other students, then I walked back, so I could try to find somewhere to buy more minutes for my cell phone. The only frustrating part of my journey so far has been my phone.
I made it back to the dorms in time to meet more students from Utah. I went with them to the Famila supermarket, and have had a lot of fun getting to know them all. I already have a friend to travel with to Amsterdam at the end of classes. We have also all begun to make plans for our free weekends. I think one trip will definitely be to Hamburg. I have been told they have a red light district, but women are not allowed. At night, we stayed up drinking beer together till eleven, and then three of us went for a nice walk. Along the way, I met Jan who owns a bike shop and has promised to rent us bikes for our visit at a much cheaper rate than we have found elsewhere. He has also promised to give me a ride on his bullet bike, but I’m not sure I’ll take him up on that.
My third day is still in progress. I went to breakfast with a few girls, and had an amazing cup of coffee. After, the girls and I met up with our tutor who I think will be great. He is working on his master’s in English, and has studied at Penn State. Only problem is, is that he is not a sports fan, but who knows maybe I can change that. After, a few girls went to eat, but Jackie, Amanda, and I decided to walk back to the dorms. (my two fav girls so far) Along the way we stopped at King Grill, a falafel place, and same place we met Jan the night before. It is also right next to an erotic shop that we also decided to check out, especially since Amanda and Jackie are from Utah born and raised. I’ve done a TON of walking today and my body seems to have hit a brick wall, so instead of showing everyone my cranky side I’m hanging back at the dorms for a nap while they all go to a beer garden. They’ve promised to come back for me in a couple hours, and if not I’ve got cell phone numbers J
So, I’m sorry about the grammar and simple repetitive vocab I’ve been using in my blog, but I’m soooooooooo tired and I’m not willing to proof reading, and Vans has been bugging me way too much to get this blog started. This blog is for you babe.
I love everyone, and I’m loving it here, but still can’t wait to come home, or bring ya’ll here J
Aufwiedersehen,
Natashia
